Deanne Fitzpatrick - Painting with Wool

Apple Blossom Spring - Deanne Fitzpatrick

I am so inspired.  I have been looking up rug hooking today and found the talented and charming Deanne Fitzpatrick.  She has a studio in Nova Scotia and her website is here:  Deanne's Website.

So excited was I, that I ran out and bought the basics for learning this art form myself!  In addition to getting what I needed I was also lucky to be introduced to a locally owned business that I'd never had occasion to visit before.  The proprietor was so helpful, upbeat and friendly that it confirmed my instincts about the craft.  There's even a group that meets weekly to share their ideas, troubles & gossip (probably!)  :)

Going by the general lack of examples of the craft or suppliers of the tools, it seems that rug hooking is not something that many in Ontario are aware of.  Not yet, anyway.  I have a feeling that it might just catch on.

--- on another note ---

There's still hope for France!  My beloved got an email yesterday, saying that he'd hear from HR soon about the position in the Cote d'Azur.  YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!  The photo is one we took in Sept 2008.  Here's a few more, just because I'm in that sort of excited, sharing mood:

C'est formidable. I've always wanted to sit in a cafe, reading de Beauvoir and listening to Piaf. Couldn't you just spend weeks in the Louvre? I have my fingers crossed for you.
