Lake on the Mountain Inn Restaurant

Today I had to go and install a piece at a Winery in Prince Edward County. It's a 2 hour drive each way, so I've not been looking forward to that aspect of it and so put it off. At first I was bummed that it was a gray morning - we'd had such a nice day the day before when I opted out of the drive, but the clouds turned out to be a blessing I'd not expected.

In any weather I really do enjoy the area. Picton and its little hamlets of Bloomfield & Wellington are like thick pieces of pumpkin pie - sweet, comforting, homey, and a quintessential autumn experience. Bursting with artists' studios, antique stores, vineyards, gourmet restaurants and fresh produce stands it's a feast for the senses no matter when you visit. As soon as I crossed over on the ferry I was glad I was there. It happens every time.

It was blustery weather but not so cold as to make it unpleasant. In fact the cold gave all sorts of people the reason they were looking for to stoke their fireplaces for the first time in months, and the smells outside literally gave me goosebumps. Falling leaves, a still lake, the love of my life by my side and the promise of a meal of smokehouse bar-b-cue at a fireside table inside a little cottage. It was all I could do not to cry from happiness. (The upside of the runaway brain!)

We stopped into a little curiosity shop and talked with the Proprietor a while. It was packed full of wares from over 600 artists. Hand Works Fine Art looks like an antique pickers dream from the outside (and somewhat inside, too) but it is packed to the rafters with handmade-everything-you-can-think-of. I was particularly in love with the rock soaps. I know a lot of artisans make soap these days but these rock soaps were something else. They looked like big chunks of the fanciest, shiniest quartz crystals you'd ever seen.

By the end of the day my belly was full and my Goddess painting was up on the wall at Casa Dea Estates - to be honest she looks a little lost on the big wall they chose for her. My hope is that she will not last long there. All I need is for someone to come along who is equally intoxicated by the season as I was today. Someone with the appreciation & the pocketbook to love her and take her home.

It looks like a nice place. Here, there's so many new strip malls-blah. I hope you have a quick sale too. Good luck.
