Canada is On the Eve of Making History!

My fingers are crossed, and I'm ready to vote.

Canadians are on the verge of having their own revolution - we are close to throwing out ALL conventional parties and putting into power a party that will represent the people of this country!

Quebec started the energy charging when they - almost en masse - turned away from their long love affair with the Bloc Quebecois in favour of the NDP.  And that was that - if Quebec is ready to take this big of a chance on Canada, the rest of the country would be crazy not to follow suit.  Real change is in the air - it crackles!

For more than 5 years Canadians have put up with a secretive, undemocratic, dictatorial leader who has cut off transparency, fairness, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, freedom of speech - who has closed Human Rights Commission Offices and removed funding from Women's and Social Justice groups.  We have toiled under a man who cannot abide being questioned, who fires people whose reports he doesn't like, who spends Canadian taxpayers' money on things Canadians would rather he didn't.  Under this man Canada's international reputation has suffered, being labeled the worst in the developed world on climate change issues and he even lost Canada her seat on the UN Security Council.  He squandered Canada's surplus and put us into the largest deficit we've ever seen.  Worst of all, he was found in contempt of Parliament.  CONTEMPT of Parliament!  The very institution which he is asking to lead once more.

The list of his misdeeds is long, and yet more jaw-dropping examples could be cited here.

The cruel irony of all of this though is that this leader never really won a mandate to do rule at all - not if you believe in proportional representation.  This man and his party only received 34% of the vote! And that was on a good election:  this is the third he has brought to Canadians, always looking to improve his lot but never getting there.

There are holdouts though - Harper does nothing better than pander to his base.  And 'base' is a good word for those narrow-minded, fearful, selfish individuals who think that somehow Dear Leader will shine favours upon them for their allegiance.

The truth is that Canada must have change.  We must.  I hope that tomorrow, we shall have it.

Very well said. I totally agree. This has been the most unethical, dishonest government we've had. I have also had a serious problem with the mud slinging commercials. The only ones that have had a positive, constructive spin were the NDP ads.

I am really on pins and needles today. I have just read that all of a sudden elections Canada is saying that a bunch of Ontario ridings have been given 'false information' about where to vote!!???!?!

This seems very fishy. Why did they not catch this until now? Funny that it is in hotly contested Ontario. Funny that it's a tight race and maybe someone wants to make sure he wins by any means necessary.

You know, Hilde, I'm a little scared to tell the truth. I really would not put anything past the Harper Regime and if he wins a majority, I just might protest like they did in Tahrir Square.
